  1. It depends on how much you want to spend. You could get a small gift for him to enjoy such as a stuffed toy or book, and a 100.00 savings bond for his education.

  2. Depends on your budget.  If you want cheaper gift I suggest a picture frame with anime pic background. With more than  5 hundred I sugget a stroller.

  3. Get him a suffed animal! Or something that can keep him entertained for a long time. That shouldn't be hard. As long as its not dangerous or very small. If i were in your position, i'd buy him a stuffed sheep that squeaks or rattles, or somethin of that nature ^_^

    Hope this helped!

  4. Speaking with direct experience (mum of a 2 year old son), Geraldine has it right.- anything that makes noise or has flashing lights (or preferably both!) is a sure fire winner for a one year old

Safety is really important - toy manufacturers mark their toys with ages - both as advice (to help people buy) and also for safety so you know what is appropriate and not to buy. Stick to a manufacturer you know well e.g. Mattel who have a long experience with kids toys.  It may be slightly more expensive, but better safe than sorry.

Don't underestimate kids' intelligence even at that age,  My son was already tossing aside things like stuffed toys which didn't do anything special!.  He had already started his car obsession, so anything with wheels he loved.  Also another favourite was was a toy phone (music, buttons, lights - he loved it!).

Good luck in your hunt - it's actually fun to go shopping and hope this helped a little

  5. Toys that light up or make noise, are popular with one year olds, board books which have lights or moving parts are favorites too.

Here are some toy safety tips too:

Children under 3 tend to put everything in their mouths. Avoid buying toys intended for older children which may have small parts that pose a choking danger.

Never let children of any age play with uninflated or broken balloons because of the choking danger.

Avoid marbles, balls, and games with balls, that have a diameter of 1.75 inches or less. These products also pose a choking hazard to young children.

Children at this age pull, prod and twist toys. Look for toys that are well-made with tightly secured eyes, noses and other parts.

Avoid toys that have sharp edges and points.
