Mine is a little under active and I don't want to use prescribed drugs yet as there are some nasty sounding side-effects.

  1. Beside L-Tyrosine I have used kelp,Sea Mussle,Parsley.

  2. nope no side effects on me and i've been taking synthyroid for about 11 yrs now . they removed mine cause of cancer

  3. L-tyrosine (or tyrosine)

L-tyrosine (500 mg two or three times a day) is a precursor to thyroid hormone and may help boost levels in the body. Iodine (naturally derived from kelp), along with L-tyrosine, is essential to the normal, healthy function of the thyroid gland.

Iodine is sold as a supplement in the form of kelp.

Both L-tyrosine and kelp can be found at most health stores.

Commiphora Mukul Extract will help for underactive thyroid.

Consult a nutritionist/naturopath for the exact dose you will need.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Homeopathic IODUM

  6. With an underactive thyroid, you may have an iodine deficiency.  if you add iddine, then your thryoid may start functioning.

The liquid vitamin product I use has this in it.  There also is a product that you can look into called thryroid activiator.

    Check the links below.

  7. There's uaually no side effects with thyroid medication, unless you are on too much.  Some have experienced hairloss with Synthroid, but that's the only side efffect I know of and it does not happen with all thyroid meds.

A little bit underactive is kind of like saying a little bit pregnant.  Changes are going on within your body if the TSH level is over 2.0.  If you want something natural there are a few choices for natural thyroid medcation (Armour, Naturethroid) These meds are often considered antianging supplements in other countries,  I am hypothyroid and have been on Armour for 5+ years with great results.  I'd never want to go without it.

  8. Bladderwrack seaweed (Fucus vesiculosus) is a good for under active thyroid. Here's a site that can give you more info about natural approaches
