  1. Ich can easily be cured in a more natural and less harmful way. I would very much recommend trying this way first, then if that doesn't seem to be working in a week, then try meds. Get some aquarium salt, and add about 1 tbs for every 5 gallons of water. Also slowly increase the temperature of your tank to about 82 degrees. The higher temps will help to have the parasites run through their life cycle faster, causing less stress on the fish in the long run.

  2. i just had this problem and i used ichaway(drops) followed the directions and it worked

  3. Both types work, I prefer the tablets, I have a larger aquarium and have had luck using the tablets. Too each their own :)

  4. Hard to say.  I found it cheaper, simpler, and more effective to turn the heat up to 82-84 F.  Tropical fish can easily tolerate this for a couple weeks, and it kills all ich in the tank over that period.

Just make sure you quarantine all new fish in a tank with water temp in this range.

Not all fish tolerate salt, i.e., most catfishes, including cories and plecos.

  5. I used Ich drops and it worked fine for my betta. It took a couple of tries with the drops to get rid of it, but it worked. Just remember not to use any carbon filters if you do use commercial Ich medicine.
