i'm 17 and live in california and am looking for motorcycle insurance. i've been hearing that companies like AAA and state farm offer really low prices when covering a bike. why is this? i'm looking to get full coverage and would like to hear what other companies give goods prices AND good coverage. thanks to all who answered.

There are a ton of factors which affect rates, so if other people got low prices, it's because of things like good driving records, good credit, etc.

Your age will be a major factor in your rates, so be prepared.  Hopefully you have good grades and no traffic tickets from driving a car!

You have two choices.  You can check with your parents' insurance company and see if they offer motorcycle insurance.  If it's possible to get a combined policy with them, your rates will be lower.

If you do need a separate policy, you'll still need your parents' assistance to get it because you are under 18 and thus cannot sign a contract.
