What's the best laptop computer?

I'm going to be starting school shortly and my classes are all on line. I was wanting to get a laptop but I don't know which type to get? I was just wondering if you had any suggestions? Thanks for all of your help!

If you literaly mean "the best type": Gaming laptops are the best-I've-heard of when it comes to performance.  "Alienware"

if schoolwork is going to be the most vigorous  task your computers going to be doing, it doesn't need to be that powerful.  Look for a computer with a core 2 duo 2.0GHz or more, with 1GB of RAM or more.  Faster GHz, and more RAM will make it a little faster, but for just using the internet and word processing, you just don't -need- anything more.

You are going to want a Mac. So much more helpful than the PCs and its really slick and light. Theres more programs that will help you with your assigments (although you might have to buy some separately, or borrow from a friend). I ADORE my Macbook. I could not live without it!

For the good economy :    Compaq,HP

For the good performance : Dell and Toshiba,

and my suggestion is never buy sony VAIO even its attractive glossy look.

Depends on what type of programs you will need to run on it for school - regardless if its a internet school - you'll still have to have programs required by your subjects whether it's Word Processing, Email, Excel, etc.

List some of the programs you will need for school to run on your computer then we can give you a better idea.

If your only using it to open Internet Explorer and Receive Email - then any laptop will work.
