What's the best local hamburger place (NOT a national chain) near you?

I travel periodically and would like to know where to get a good burger. (NOT McDonalds, Burger King, Hardees, Wendy's, etc!) I would like to find good locally owned places.

In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the place to go was the Hamburger Inn, until the elderly couple who ran the place couldn't do it anymore (I don't know what it is like now under the new management).

In St. Cloud ,Minnesota, I would pick Val's on the east side of town and Burger Time on the west side.

Ok, those are my contributions to the list. What is your favorite and what town is it in?

TONI'S   ice cream and food shop  in clarksburg west virginia  its only open april thru september from 2pm to 10 pm but sooooo worth the wait

Ms. Anns Snackbar  in Atlanta, GA. Home of da Ghetto Burger. If you finish they put your picture on the wall and the foods on da house. Burger about 10 inch in diameter. I'm bout to go get 1 now holla!!!!!!!

I live in San Francisco and there is an excellent place in the Financial District called Bistro Burger.  To me, they are the best burgers in the city.  Of course they ARE pricier than McDonalds or Burger King, but WORTH it!

The Detroitor in downtown Detroit. Best bar burger around town. Located near all the sports stadiums (baseball, football, hockey) and down the street from Greektown Casino. Their 'House Special' cannot be beat:

Ok there is this great LITTLE diner in Whitesville, Ky. they have the best hamburgers ever!! The place is called Mil's. I live in another state now and I miss it.

Metairie/New Orleans, Louisian area we have Bud's which has killer flame broiled burgers with that super bright shredded orange cheddar cheese on them.  There is also a place called Lee's, which has some pretty tasty burgers also.

Swensons in Akron Oh..it is the best... ask anyone about swensons here and they will tell you!

Skyway and Hamburger Station have similar burgers that are pretty good also.
