Question:

What's the best longboard for city transportation?

I'm 5'3, 125lbs, so definitely don't want anything too big. I don't like anything too loose, but definitely need to be able to carve sharp/quickly.

I'm not a beginner, not an expert. Had a sector nine back in the day and liked it, but didn't love it (totally forget what kind and how big.)

Probably looking for something with bigger wheels because of gravel/potholes/etc. right?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

  1. Look into a cruiser board.  They are usually 34-42" long and many have a kicktail to ollie on and off curbs.  The cruiser is ideal for urban riding.  It is more maneuverable than a longer longboard and more stable than a regular skateboard.  The kicktail also can be used for kickturns.

Consider getting carving trucks like Gullwing Sidewinder, Randal, Seismic or Bear.  These are special trucks just for carving.  Regular trucks will work fine, but the turning radius and responsiveness might be not be as good.  I have Indy trucks on all my boards and they work well.

Go with big, soft wheels; they will go over irregularities in the street better.  I would recommend nothing smaller than a 65mm, and 70mm would be preferential.
