  1. I'd go with kali / eskrima. The filipino martial arts are excellent for weapons training.

  2. Well, "ninjutsu" is not a martial art. However, the martial art associated with it (ninpo taijutsu), or, more blanketly, taijutsu gives you an overall sense of weapons handling. When you start out, you wield each weapon differently, but as you progress, you come to realize that the weapons are all the same. Just as someone can be struck with a rope or chain, so too can someone be tied up with a stick. You learn to cut with staves and bludgeon with blades. What matters isn't the weapon in your hands, but overall the way in which your body moves. The strike of the weapon is consequent to your movement.

I will point out that I have seen similar trends in kung fu, though never seen it taught well in the US.

  3. sniper training- USMC

among those you listed for hand held weapons it would depend on how realistic it is.

unfortunately most weapons classes today only teach "dancing with weapons" they don't spar, they don't test cut, etc.

just like unarmed combat you MUST do weapons training, oddly enough it is safer to train in weapons than unarmed as in weapons no one will dispute the effectiveness of bieng cut with a large sharp object, so there is no empahsis on wearing less protective gear to judge the force of the blow.

you get jabbed in the chest with a sparring spear (blunt or just wood) you know you would be dead, either immediately or you would bleed out and die.

and no, not all weapons are the same- some of the principles behind thier use MIGHT be the same depending on the weapon, but the defensive techniques and offensive uses are much different.  they are only the same if you are just dancing around and doing demos with them, not practicing against a fully resisting opponent who is trying to strike you with his weapon (practice weapon) as well.

  4. Kali, Escrima or the other smiler styles Arnis and Bastion these are weapon styles first unlike most other arts which learn hand to hand then only teach advanced students weapons or some schools that refuse to teach weapons all the schools I mentioned if taught right will teach both unarmed and armed the style is the same with or without weapons basically

  5. for me it's escrima because you can defend your self like arnis.

  6. i am not familiar with the majority of martial arts primarily pertaining to weapon usage.

its called a pistol. aka: firearm, gun, etc.

    NYPD trains it.

if there is a more dangerous, effective weapon than a gun let me know.

pepper spray works for non-lethal force also.

  7. Shaolin Kung Fu
