What's the best meal/snack to eat before a volleyball workout?

Workout consists of a lot of running and jumping around. How soon should I eat before the practice and should I drink water with that?

  1. Chicken and pasta. Thats what my coach told me


  2. I would say water and fruit.

Eat pasta the night before,this gives you energy for the next day.before practice granola bars energy bars are good,stay away from high sugars it decreases your performance.if yo need some sugar drink 1 cup of gatoraid to every 2 cups of water.But water always first before workouts.and throughout.

  4. Everytime my college volleyball team has a home game, there is always pasta served in the team room along with granola bars and juice boxes.

  5. Stalk up on "good foods", whole wheat pasta and good carbs. This will keep you going, faster than simple carbs, like white bread.  I find something perky works, like 1 cup of coffee. Just whatever you do!!!!: Do NOT  eat too close to the tryout or you will be slow and might feel sick.

  6. My coach is my sister and we both eat a turkey sandwich with NO CHEESE, and lettuce. You should also drink 8 oz. of water beforehand.

  7. peanut butter or something that has protein to give you the energy you need.  But don't eat something like a candy bar, becasue, even though it gives you a little burst of energy, you'll only be energetic for about 10 minutes and then you'll be pooped.  So go with something healthy like peanut butter.

  8. My team has a couple beers before we play.  Some carbs and relaxation.  Works perfect.

  10. I AM JUST GOING BY WHAT MY COACH TOLD ME TO EAT. HE SAID TO DRINK LOTS OF WATER AS APPOSED TO OTHER DRINKS BECAUSE GATORADE CONTAINS SUGAR WHICH WILL MAKE YOU CRASH LATER ON AND SAME WITH THE ENERGY DRINKS THEY WILL WEAR OFF AND YOU DONT WANT TO DRINK ALOT CONTINUOUSLY BECAUSE ITS NOT SAFE. AS FOR FOOD POWER BARS WORK BUT TASTE NASTY, I WOULD EAT STUFF WITH SUBSTANCE AND PROTEIN. I ALWAYS EAT A PB&J SANDWICH BUT YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU LIKE TO EAT. HOPE I HELPED.
