What's the best over the counter substance or home remedy for cleaning sticky glue off of a substance?

I've heard vodka take glue residue off I saw it on one of the morning shows and it worked.

I agree with the others, always keep a little bottle of goo gone stashed in a cabinet.

I sometimes let the goo gone sit for a while on a surface, then remove later for less scrubbing.

If your using it on glass you can follow up with windex to get the oily residue off.

Either a vegetable oil or rubbing alcohol works well.

I've been using "Goo Gone", which I get at the hardware store, Wal Mart, etc.

It works.  Sometimes you have to leave it to soak into the glue for a while, maybe 15 minutes.  If there's lots of goo, it may need a few applications until the glue gets liquid enough to come off easily.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how many uses it has.
