honestly, i just prefer the ipod headphones with the rubber material covering the outside of the earpiece.

headphones, definitely skullcandy. you can change volume with not only the ipod or whatever, but with the headphones, they are also stylish and comfortable

There are a few contenders for the absolute best headphones out there.

For a while, Sennheiser produced a pair of electrostatic headphones called the Orpheus, which were powered by a tube amp, and cost around $15k.  However, they are out of production now.

In terms of currently available, dynamic headphones, there are 3 or 4 top of the line headphones that are all incredible, and at that point its really a matter of taste which is better. These include:

Sennheiser HD640

Grado GS 1000

Denon AH D5000

AKG K701

There are a few others out there, but I hope thats a good start.
