Having seriously regretted not having a holiday abroad this year, I'm about to book a holiday in France for next year, but as I've never been to any of the regions of France, I don't know where to go.

We don't fancy Brittany, as people say it's just like England, and we want somewhere where the sun's going to shine.

We quite fancy the Cote D'Azur, or St Tropez, but I've heard people say it's over-rated. We would like somewhere with lots of culture, that's pretty, and sunny.

  6. the whole of France is like England now, in terms of expat property owners everywhere you go

  7. Pays de la Loire, particularly the La Roche-sur-Yon area.

The beaches are beautiful, me and my fiance went in June, it was very hot (35 degrees almost daily) and the beach was empty!

There is quite a lot for children to do, you can hire bikes with seating at the front, all the family peddles and there is special cycle tracks running alongside the beach.

There is also usually a circus that goes near the beach with various activities for children to join in with.

It is a very pretty place, we went for a midnight stroll and were amazed at the amount of thought, time and money gone into the street lighting, car parks and overall safety.

I also love Normandy, it usually rains and in terms of weather, it is very similar to England. However, it does make for an amazing holiday. Me and my fiance have been there too and there wasn't a day where we didn't do anything.

With all the history around Normandy, it would be great for the children and it is very interesting.

We have been to Brittany and personally I don't think it is like England at all. We stayed in Lannion a few miles from the beach. It was very sunny when we went (May last year).

The scenery is lovely and it is quite a quiet place.

Don't rely on Canvas' entertainment, it isn't THAT bad, but the same things are usually repeated, such as Disco + Karaoke nights. You will probably have English reps though so you don't need to learn too much French before you go.

    Have fun!
