I have read and read about the oyster card versus the travel card. My hotel is in zone 1 but Wimbledon is zone 3. I'm thinking I should get the 41p (all zones) 7-day travelcard but alot of sites say the Oyster card is best. They say just pay as you go. The only day I'm doing the site seeing is middle sunday. The rest of the time will be traveling back and forth to Wimbledon grounds. Please advise. Thanks

  1. a 7 day pass if you staying 7 days you will need one every day doh where do you people come from mars

  2. A "pay as you go" Oyster card is definitely the way to do it.

It is cheaper than the Travelcard and you can use it as often as you like each day  -  once a maximum fare has been reached for that day, all other travel is free.

Add £20 to it to start (there's a £3 deposit on the card, but you can pass it to a friend, save it or cash it in) and everytime you go through a ticket barrier it will light up with how much you have left - or you can "touch" it on machines in every station and see how much oyu have left.

Incidentally, it's always dearer to travel Mon-Fri before 9.30 am - so travel after that if possible  - it's more comfortable, too .. unless you're going to the tennis, which gets rather busy!

More on Oyster on my site below, or just ask me, please!

    Does this help, please?
