  2. i don't know if it's really advice or not, but i had a thought hit me at a down time in my life that has ment a lot to me, and i have told it to others and they seem to have gotten something out of it too.

    if you could change places with anyone in the world, but you had to trade everything, would you do it?  i've yet to find a single person who would trade their life for someone elses, i'm sure there are those that would, but if you wouldn't trade with anyone, you must not have it too bad...

  8. well it's something I afdapted from other advice, and is now my favourite motto:

  15. IF by Rudyard Kipling

    If you can keep your head when all about you

    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

    But make allowance for their doubting too;

    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

    Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

    Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;

    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

    And treat those two impostors just the same;

    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

    And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings

    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

    And lose, and start again at your beginnings

    And never breathe a word about your loss;

    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

    To serve your turn long after they are gone,

    And so hold on when there is nothing in you

    Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

    ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,

    if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

    If all men count with you, but none too much;

    If you can fill the unforgiving minute

    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

    And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

  16. I tend to lean the most from lessons in life rather than advice.  I don't recall any advice immediately which I could say that one person has said and it originated from them (and was not some cliche).

    The only advice I immediately recall giving, was "If anyone calls you ginger nuts, tell them you have golden balls".  This advice was given to a young red haired boy.

  17. "No use wasting your life away on the shoulds, woulds and coulds."

    And also: "Forget about it, you won't even remember yesterday tomorrow!"    Because that is so true to me!

  18. "be yourself and don't change because of anyone - unless if it's for the best"

  19. Treat others the way you would expect to be treated yourself.

  20. my dad always came up with one piece of advice. 'You dont have to do anything you dont want to do in this life, but one thing you must do and that is die'.  I know its abit deep but its self explanatory!

  21. worrying is like a rocken chair...it gives you something to do but gets you no where...

  22. nothing is set in stone

  23. "Dont eat yellow snow !"...and i tell you what...i'm a better man for it. All my friends that have eaten yellow snow have got nowhere in life ! Ha...that'll teach them !

  24. Never eat anything that you can't spell or pronounce, is bigger than your own head or tomatoes.

  25. Home of man is no place for an ant.

  26. Follow your heart and never give up

  27. The best advice I've heard is "Don't sweat the small stuff".

  28. best adice i have ever been given is " dont eat yellow snow"

  29. The best piece of advice I have been given is something so simple and so trite it has almost lost its meaning.

    "Be the change you want to see in the world."

    My RE teacher told me that when he gave me detention (yet again, I had deliberately not done his homework) just after my last lesson with him.

    It wasn't, as I thought, Jesus who said that though. It was Mahatma Gandhi.

    Absolutely everything artificial in the world today can be traced as originating in someones mind. And that is where it would have remained if the person having the thought had not acted upon.

    I regret not having followed this as my fellow detainees have all gone on to bigger and better things. Except me.
