  1. the Philippines.... We have great big piles of trash and dead rats that you can skii on.. For free!!

  2. zell am see in austria!...romantic setting...resort is suitable for skii-ers of every level (INCLUDING beginers)!!!!!

  3. For a romance it has to be "It Happened in Sun Valley"  Several others do come to mind.

For the overall ski resort in North America, go north to Whistler-Blackcomb, in BC, Canada.   Whistler is pricey, so bring money. The skiing and the resort experience are great. Take a set of lessons before you go, take the daily tour when you arrive and enjoy.

Other choices include most of the Rocky Mountain resorts and Tahoe area.  Utah and Wyoming also have great skiing but not the resort experience.   Whistler is preparing for the Olympics in 2 years so it's getting even better.

  4. If money is no issue

Beaver Creek is the most upscale ski area in the WORLD

Unbelievable restaurants such as Beanos that is on the mountain and you get there by horse drawn carriage and the Ritz at Bachelor Gulch is spectacular

    check out snow.com

You also have Vail less than 5 miles away which is famous worldwide for thier back bowls and is the largest in North America, Breckenridge is 15 miles and its great, Keystone ( has night skiing ) 20 miles and A-Basin and Copper are right there as well

Lake Tahoe - Heavenly is breath taking , It looks like a postcard when you stand on the top overlooking the lake

By the way - Winter Park is the lowest end ski area in Colorado - Old and run down with almost zero night life and poorly groomed - Believe me you'll hate it

  5. Beaver Creek or Snowmass are both very luxurious, have a lot of beginner trails, and don't usually have long lift lines. Make sure neither have any ski competitions during your stay because that will make the resort really crowded.

  6. I would check the Rocky Mountain for beginner skiing. Winter Park, CO has some of the best beginner runs out in that area. I've skied it so I know from personal experience. Also, they have some packages that include a lesson, ski rental & lift ticket. Also, they have the best condo. packages for double occupancy which are quite romantic & include a DVD & VCR player, hot tub & indoor swimming pool with a restaurant on the premises & a free shuttle which takes you anywhere in town, including to the lifts. If you want more details, just e-mail me. I've been an expert skier for 35 yrs. & I own my own snow ski travel agency. I hope this helps. Another thing to remember is to find a ski area & look at the mountain statistics. This will give you the vertical drop & also show you how their runs are!!! They will show the percentage of beginner, intermediate & advanced runs. Some areas, like Winter Park have an abundance of beginner slopes. They're are quite a few with at least 50% of their runs listed for beginners so you can enjoy over half of the mountain.  Stay away from the ski areas that list mostly advanced; they tend to be much more difficult, expecially for beginners.
