What's the best place to buy a digital camera?

I want to buy a new digital camera. I've been looking online, but I really want to look at cameras in the store so I can actually look at them, find out how easy they are to operate, etc. I want a store with a lot of options, as well. Any recommendations?

Also, do you have any recommendations for a specific camera? I want it to be compact, have image stabilization, face detection, red-eye correction, good zoom, and different settings (black & white, sepia, portrait, outside, inside, etc).

Anything come to mind?

If you want to physically see and feel many cameras a large Walmart or large Best Buy would be my first choice.
