Giordanos is the best. The Chicago Tribune has said so and I agree. I have been eating there for 25 years.

As someone who invests time in some of these business marvels, the home of the deep dish has many choices.

Honorable mention goes to the Edwardo's chain and Amato's in Elmwood Park.  Not the best but still good food on the go.  Amato's and Nancy's share a little something that serves as a good tip, of which I will leave below my number one choice.

3. Nancy's Pizza, this was my first Stuffed Pizza, way before it vastly became a chain, and for good reason.  As a kid I was amazed at how thick and tasty this concoction was, since then it was just becoming more and more perfected.  http://www.nancyspizza.com

2. Gino's East, Pizzeria Uno, and Lou Malnati's, tied for second because they are somewhat similar pie's.  Thick Deep Dish Crust with more sponge on the bottom that oozes out the toppings on the top the pie instead of inside. Gino's has a distinct yellower dough.

1. Giordano's, of course, as many have already mentioned here, does not need to experiment any farther... the cheese, the crust, the whole set up for this pie is right on.  I wish I got to the recipe first!  In another ask question, a southerner came with a friend and just happen to stop in one and was so pleasantly surprised by this pie, she returned home and missed it.  After that initial eat, all she did was load up on that place the rest of her stay.  I chuckled, but empathized.  I would miss it, too.  She was glad to know that she could order pies that are half-baked and shipped directly to your door so you'll never miss it again, lol!

Topping tip:  Chicago as some other US cities have great Italian beef (I was shocked to hear many southern states have never heard of this), this topping is available on the Stufts at Amato's and Nancy's, it is a phenomenal option if you have not tried it already.  Most pizza places carry Italian Beef, but are reluctant to put it in the pies because it gives a juicy crust, but THAT's what makes it so tasty!! ENJOY!!

Pizzeria Uno or Due are the TOP places!

They are kiddy corner from each other and constantly are busy. They are also in a great location in the city
