I'm not sure which kind to search for. Which is best, without being overpriced? Thanks.

  1. Go to any crafts store or sewing store and look for a tie-dye kit made by Jacquard, Dylon, Tulip, or Rainbow Rock. These dyes are easy to use because they are set with washing soda (included in the kit), instead of with boiling water, and the dye stays bright on your clothes for years, even if you wash them in hot water. The Jacquard tie-dye kits will dye about 15 t-shirts and they cost about $13, so it's not a big investment. Be sure to dye only 100% cotton shirts which are NOT stain-resistant (the stain resistant coatings on some t-shirts will resist dye, too). Sometimes you can find these great kits in Walmart or Target, but if they don't have them, your local crafts store will.
