  1. Just so we are clear, you are to only have on virus program on your computer at a time. If you have more then one, you will run into conflict issues.

Also if the virus program you have is not removing the infection, that would mean your problem is spyware. And for that you will need a spyware protection program.

I use these two programs, for virus's protection I use AVG 8.0 it has a free and paid version. And for spyware I use spybot, which is a free program. Both of them work great.

  2. In order to get FULL, GUARANTEED protection, I recommend that you DO NOT download any software. I suggest that you purchase a software from a local Office/Computer supply store (e.g. Office Depot, Staples, Office Max) or order one online. I ordered the Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and it is wonderful. Anytime my computer gets a virus, a pop up informs me, and the software quarantines the virus in order to keep your computer safe. After which, I go into the quarantine folder at delete the virus to prevent damage. Not only does this software cleans viruses from your computer, it also takes care of spyware, malware, hackers, you name it, the software does it. It also informs you if someone is trying to hack into your computer. The software will cost you about $40-something with tax, but it's worth it. Better than having your computer/laptop crash and spending $500+ to get another one. Below is the link to Wal-Mart where you can purchase it, but as I stated earlier, you can find it in an office/computer supply store.

  3. A good one that I always use is Kaspersky. Its stable and very effectve.

  4. get a good antivirus and also a good anti spyware, try spyware terminator,

  5. I find AVG to be the best out there (I have used Norton, McAfee, Avast, and AVG). I can say this because of personal experience. If you want to get bored with my story, read on.

One day I got a virus through Windows Live Messenger (It's know as the MSN Virus). I was wondering why the attachment wasn't opening so I tried it multiple times on my desktop and my laptop. My desktop was running McAfee (paid subscription) and my laptop was running AVG (Free edition version 7.0 {Now there is 8.0}). I tried opening the attachment (the virus) multiple times on both computers and it turns out that my desktop goes and crashes on me.... Just my luck. Thing is though, my laptop did not even get a virus! AVG stopped it dead in it's tracks. I know this because I checked AVG's log and there it was, the MSN virus had been thwarted! Yay!

So yeah, hope it wasn't too boring...

    *EDIT*

Forgot to add that out of the 3 I've used, to my own personal opinion, AVG is the most user-friendly program out there.

  6. AVG. simple, easy, and works. ( :

  7. There's a lot of skepticism about which antivirus is the best.

    I recommend all of these:

    - Avast

    - Nod32

    - Panda
