A lot of my friends have recently moved away for University, and a few of them have web cams. MSN doesn't work that well we found out, and when we used Yahoo Messenger it somehow screwed up Firefox on both our computers and we had to uninstall it. Can you guys tell me in your opinion what the best program to use for web cam conversations is? Or at least how to fix the Yahoo Messenger problem. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  1. haven't had any problem with msn/yahoo...  does your computer meet the requirements for the webcams operation?

  2. i usually use msn, but since it's not working that well for you,

maybe you could try skype. i've used it before and it works very well.

hope it works out for you!

  3. I've heard that Skype is good, although I haven't ever tried it myself.

  4. I would definitely recommend Skype; the video and audio quality is brilliant.

It's primarily designed for web-chats, so if you and your friends have headsets as well as web-cams you can speak to each other from one PC to the other for free.

And you can use regular text chatting as well if you're having a bad hair day :P

  5. aim

  6. Skype is a very good way to do webcam conversations.  A lot of the podcasts that I listen to and watch use skype to talk to each other.  It has better quality than a phone most of the time.  It is definitely good to have broadband connections for the best performance.

There are other services like Oovoo that have been used with mixed results.
