What's the best route, as far as education, to become an investment banker?

  1. "what" has the path pretty much down.

    Without going to an ivy league school your chances of becoming an IB is slim to none.  

    After that a few years of being an analyst (usually more that 2 to get into a top MBA program) score a high score on the GMAT and apply to a top MBA program.

    If you get your degree you should be competitive for an IB job.

  3. prep high school (something that either has the word "Prep" or phrase "Country Day" if possible), ivy college (major in finance, economics, or advance mathematics), become IB analyst, leave after 2 years, get MBA from M-7 school, back to IB till you turn 40 and retire.
