Question:

What's the best running shoe for me?

I'm trying to start running a few times a week. I'm about 6'1, 178 pounds. I've always worn Nike, but they never feel too good when I try to run in them. It's probably because I only own Air Max and Shox style, which aren't too great for running I assume. I'm thinking about getting into the Zoom Vomero or Zoom Equalon series. I've also considered the Asics Gel Kayano 14. I will only be using these on treadmills. I also have semi flat feet, and I seen to wear the inside part of my heels on my shoes. Should I try the new Nike's or go for the Asics? Thanks for any help!

  1. I beleive Nike is intended for a flatter foot whereas ASICS are for more of an arch. I prefer the asics gel nimbus they are$$ but they are the lightest and most confortable shoe I have ever worn

  2. I have been running for 8 years now. Though I am biased towards Nike as a brand, I would recommend you to go to a running-specific store, like Fleet Feet in Carrboro, NC. They can help you find the right shoe because people buy shoes that aren't necessarily right for their feet, but more comfortable or fashionable. But after you get the correct shoes or even if you haven't, I would go to any major athletics store and ask the sales associates because they are getting paid to know the products they are selling. But make sure you state the use/reason for buying the shoes. Good luck!!!

  3. i would say go for the asics. U have tried Nike, but u said u had problems with them. I have flat feet, and so go for one that has built- in arch supports,if they are as comfy as I hear they are, u may not JUST use them on the treadmills, but be tempted to run in them too. I do not run, but I answered it because I have flat feet, and I thought I would be able to help u.

  5. Go with the asics i have , semi-flat feet to and everyone i talk to recomends to wear asics . Try to to get asics that have got the hard grey firm foam in the arch area of the shoe instead of the just white foam , as its not use to ur arches and flat feet.Feel/press the foam to see how hard it is make sure its firm.
