  1. Lots of great ski fields in NZ - the best powder in the world!

On the North Island, the Ruapehu district has the largest ski slopes in NZ (around 1800 hectares!) and Whakapapa and Turoa on the north-west and south-west slopes of Mount Ruapehu provide great fun for skiers and boarders of all abilities.

On the South Island, Queenstown is the place to go - the famous ski fields of Coronet Peak and the Remarkables offer great run for beginners and advanced. There's also Wanaka (50 minutes drive from Queenstown) - the Home and Saddle basins at Treble Cone are great for beginners and intermediate.

    Have fun!!

  2. i lived in central otago in the south island of enzed. the places i used to board at were coronet peak and the remarkables (located just outside of Queenstown). I would go to Coronet peak to learn over the Remarkables because the trails are pretty wide. However, I also used to board at Cardrona and treble cone. i raced a few times at cardrona. that's a good mountain to start skiing. treble cone is not. the trails are narrow and it's not for beginners. hope this helped a bit! have fun wherever you decide to go!
