  1. State of Colima is pretty cool state.  City of Manzanillo was featured in the film "10" and is a pretty laid back town.

  4. Campeche...not a lot of people, nice and hot, and it has both coastal (Gulf side) and jungle landscapes.  Plus not really a far drive to Cancun should there be a desire to be in a populous place to party.

  6. The Federal  District (Distrito Federal) is the best state in Mexico, everything else is like country side.

  7. The state of Veracruz is the most beautiful.  I has beaches, mountains, is very green (not dry and brown like many areas).

  8. It all depends on what you are looking for: beaches, arqueology, folklore, adventure, culture, development, etc. each state has its particularities which make them all special and kind of magic.

    Best archaeological ruins: Yucatan

    Best oil output: Campeche

    Best train railway: Chihuahua
