What's the best strategy to get ahead in CORPORATE WORLD for women? Please no jokes, only serious answers! I'm an entry level person working in the financial industry, I love my job and want to get ahead.

UNTOUCHABLE INTEGRITY, STRONG PRINCIPALS coupled with an INSATIABLE DESIRE to increase your KNOWLEDGE BASE, all the while applying a DISCIPLINED WORK ETHIC.

Those four ingredients will propel you without doubt.  Take no prisoners, make no compromises when it comes to any of those four and you will soon see results.

Principles, credentials and attitude.  

That means do what you say you'll do and treat people fairly...no sniping, backstabbing or gossip.  Be positive and assertive, not aggressive.

Make sure your education/certifications/professional memberships are impeccable...better than the guys if you can do it...gives them one less excuse to pass you over.

Work hard.  Be on time.  Produce quality work.  Look people in the eye when you talk to them, give a firm handshake and speak up when you have something valuable to add.  

If you like golf and raquetball and want to play with the guys, the networking opportunities are there for you as well as for them.  If you don't like those things, don't force it or you'll look like a fraud.  There are other ways to network...look for them and use them.
