  1. *gets out soapbox* Ok! I have worked in animal rescue for almost 7 years now and I can tell you that there are very many reasons to adopt!

In my opinion, there are few feelings more validating than after having a terrible day at work/school, coming home and knowing that that tiny little creature you rescued has been dying to see you- it will adore you no matter what!

Seeing the statistics on animals that are abused, neglected. or otherwise mistreated can be heartbreaking! Knowing that in some way, you have saved an innocent creature from such a bleak and horrifying future is truly a great feeling.

  2. Seeing them happy and fat!! I rescued so many animals in my time and when I find them homes and check on them it is a miracle to see how I was able to save this little creature and now see them enjoying life. I love it and they seem to know what I have done.

I found the orange and white one (Stormie) in the middle of the road totally blind with a nasty eye infection and an URI.  I took him to the vet and even with antibiotics it took 4 days for him to be able to see anything.  Now I watch him race around the house and play with the other critters.  The vet said it was a miracle he was still alive.  I know for a fact I saved his life.  It doesn't get better than that.

  4. everything to knowing i saved my kitty and just having another little person in my house! lol

  5. i rescued a mange-y, tiny little puppy from a ditch almost 4 years ago and the best thing about it for me was watching her grow and get better and have pups of her own. also the way she loves me because she knows i saved her life is amazing. shes a great dog.

  6. The love that is shared from that moment on for the rest of their lives.  Because now they will actually HAVE lives.  That's my favorite thing.  Louie just ate my strawberry!

  7. The day I brought Chloe home from the shelter, something told me I didn't need to put her in a small room for two days or whatever.  I just set the pet taxi on the couch and opened the door.  She strolled out, walked to the end of the couch and curled up on the folded Afghan like she knew it was going to be hers.  She tucked her paws underneath herself, started purring and looked up at me with that little cat smile.

My heart busted wide open.  Hard to describe that feeling.

In this situation it is seeing the improvement in Rocky in one short weekend. Isn't love wonderful!

  8. Awww

It just feels good to know that you saved a dog from being put down.

  9. my fave thing is the fact that you know you've saved a wonderful life and then receiving the love and grate fullnessfrom them aafter wards

  10. Knowing that you are helping out a little creature who hasn't done anything to hurt anyone.  You are giving them the kind of life they would give to you, if the tables were turned.

All my kitties have been rescues or foundlings.  Wouldn't have it any other way.
