Immigrants don't need to do either.  I think you mean that you are an illegal alien.  If that's the case it's best for you to sign a voluntary departure and then comply with the terms of your agreement.

If you are deported ICE will pay your way home.  Of course, you'll find it much more difficult in the event that you ever want to come back legally.
