Traveling to Las Vegas in a few weeks... what's the best thing to do with your room key while spending time at the hotel's pool? Also, what other general "personal safety" tips do you have for being out and about on the strip?

  1. well give it to the front desk and ask them to hold on to it okay and have a great time down there

  2. MUCH easier being you're a guy...most board shorts have a pocket so just put key card in there.

Get one of those plastic waterproof  money/key holders either before trip or there is a Walgreens on the strip (you can't throw a cat with out hitting a Walgreens they're everywhere now a days..they prob even have them on the moon)

  3. Most trunks have a small pocket hidden but you can buy a container that goes around the neck.  Leave all valuables in the room safe.

  4. Maybe ask the front desk to hold it for you while at the pool.

Don't flaunt if you hit big winnings.  Avoid carrying too much cash with you or getting too drunk.

    Enjoy your trip!

  5. Get Drunk and GO CARZY! RAISE HECK!

  6. If you are staying in a major strip hotel they have concierge agents that will be more than happy to keep up with something like keys for you.  Some hotels, such as MGM, tend to have a crowd near their pools and keeping any personal item is dangerous.  Talk to your hotel concierge and they will either take care of you themselves or direct you to security or booking who will manage that.  If you have plans, you may even be able to ask someone at the main lobby to arrange for you to be let into your room after you visit the pool, but I do not suggest that.  Basic safety on the strip is easy because everything is on the camera or under the  close watch of secruity.  Still, there are con men everywhere in vegas.  Stick to the strip, take only legitimate trips off strip with bonifide agents or travel authorities, talk to your hotel concierge about what good deals and places are around.  Have a wonderful time and don't worry to much about safety while on the strip.  You are as safe there as any city in America.

  7. I had this same problem when I stayed at the MGM Grand a few years ago. I kept the key in my pocket, but I was worried it would fall out as I floated around the lazy river. Then I noticed, as we were leaving, that they had lockers. I think I would have felt comfortable with leaving a locker key by my towel/chair. However, as others have mentioned, the hotel concierge would be a good solution, too.

As far as personal safety, I think the Vegas Strip is very safe, especially for a major city. That being said, I don't like to tempt fate. So, I don't carry a lot of cash around with me. And I don't like ATM fees every time I want to withdraw some money. So, I sometimes get traveler's checks before I go out there. Yes, it's old school, but my bank does not charge for them, and the cages in any casino will gladly cash them for you.

    Good Luck!

    Mike
