Early in the morning when its still misty or late in the evening when it starts getting dark.

Flatheads are an opportunistic feeder but not scavengers like most other cats. They will bite throughout the day but early morning is the best time to catch them. What I do is catch blue gill just under hand size and put them on a hook still live. fish semi deep on a slip rig. this will catch them just about any time of day
