What's the best trail/trek to Machu Picchu?

I manage a Latin American travel website (www.cat-travel.com) and we offer a number of different trails and treks to Machu Picchu including the Inca Trail. If any of you have done any treks and trails in the area I'd very interested in finding out which one's you'd recommend the most.

the best trail to go to Machu Picchu are the famous INCA TRAIL a tour to do in four days.

but the are new programs all included a full day tour in Machu Picchu, other trail with beautifully land scape's are the trail to LARES

I recommend the NEW Inca Trail. We hiked it in 2005, and I liked that a) there were less people on it b) the guides were very knowledgeable c) I have heard rumors that the original Inca trail gets mistreated, and lots of trash is left behind. I didn't see ANY tour groups on the New trail leaving behind trash or mismanaging the environment.

I doubt I'd ever want to do the old trail, as it just sounds so crowded.
