Question:

What's the best type of dress for a curvy girl?

I'm 5'3'' I have a fairly large chest, not huge hips probably average, I'm an hourglass shape.

  1. i would suggest an empire style dress ( a bow/band/ribbon a little below bust line ) it will even out you chest by flowly outwards away from your hips thus balanceing your figure. i would stay away from lighter color and go for a nice red dress :D

There are lots of dress types that look great on different people, but I'll five you a sort of general answer.  For the body type you described, I would go with a dress that puts less emphasis on the hips.  Look for dresses that have a something (a band, ribbon, etc.) just under the bust ("empire waist"), and then flow down, instead of down and out.  Here are some examples of what I mean!

    the belt should be placed 2 inches below your chest

    this is an illusion which makes your chest look bigger and your stomach area slim

    it also makes your whole body look longer because belts are usually around the waist area

    this is one big illusion that truly works
