  1. 20/20 is nothing special.  I'd be willing to be that almost everyone who sees 20/20 can actually see better than that if tested.  Most of my patients can see 20/15 without much problem.  It's not because I'm an incredible doctor, it's because I ask them to read that line.  A lot of docs stop at 20/20.

Another thing to remember that I learned from an old doc is that 20/20 is the WORST you can see and still be considered normal.

  2. With the advent of LASIK eye surgery and the precision it brings to eye surgery, the maximum vision theoretically possible is 20/8.

20/15 and 20/10 vision has been routinely reported in air force pilots and astronauts.

For the average person, 20/20 is very good vision, whether that is natural or corrected with lenses.

  3. the best ive heard of is 20/10 which is seeing at 20 ft what an average person can see at 10ft

20/20 is ideal and usually most people are born with that and shortly after birth is when vision starts to change and most dramatically during puberty

  4. The ideal vision in humans is 20/20. You want to have this. However, many people have vision better or worse than this. Though very rare, some people see better than 20/20. A common nickname for this is being "eagle-eyed." Far more people see worse than 20/20. If it is significantly worse, they may wear contacts or glasses. Surgeries can be done to fix the problem also.
