  1. You could fly.

  2. Yes, you heard right. The trip is about 10 hours.

The major coach company is Newmans, and the main shuttle service is run by Atomic Shuttles.

You can google them both for full details, prices and bookings.

Other services also operate; Contiki, Magic, Naked and Kiwi Experience, but these may take a day or 3.

  3. Ritchie Coachlines

    White or Yellow Pages

  4. Log onto http://www.grabaseat.co.nz - they have airfare specials daily as low as $1 - average price $39.  Can change all the time so be sure to look a couple times a day.  If there is a cheap fare from Christchurch to Queenstown you are better off going that way.

You can also try the backpacking bus network - Kiwi-Experience http://www.kiwiexperience.com - there is 20% at the moment.

  5. I took a coach.  On the way, I do enjoy the views.

    Some information on Christchurch.

  6. Fly, the scenery is amazing.

  7. What about a Contiki tour, (scenic southern) it takes a week but you get a good grounding of the south island and as you're on a coach with the same people the whole time you make friends too!
