What's the best way of identifying the fish I catch as a beginner?

  1. Take a pcture of it on your mobile phone cam or digital camera for identifying later on.


  2. Here in Ohio the DNR puts out a pamphlet on species identification. I've included a link to it. You may want to check out your states DNR for something similar. Hope this gets you started. You may also want to pick up a few fishing magazines. Since you are a beginner there may be some valuable tips for you.

  5. you will get to know the fish in your area line down the side yellowish fins= snook and you'll fid them out as you go

  6. One of the better ways is by having someone there who knows fish and will teach you what they look like. The next best thing would be getting a sport fish primer or some other sort of fish ID book. A third idea is to just take lots of pictures of everything you catch and ask an expert on a later date.
