What's the best way to be a professor?

I want to be a professor so I only have to work a couple hours hours a day. Is there a requirement?

Better get over THAT idea, then.

You'll work your butt off to earn a Ph.D.  Grad school requires a ton of research.  You might teach only a couple of hours a day, but you'll be required to do research, publish your results, sit on panels, advise undergrads and graduate students, manage a lab or three, review theses, hire and fire teaching assistants and grad assistants, keep current on all sorts of research in your field, and in general work your butt off.
