What's the best way to become a driver for a company like Fed Ex or UPS ?

Question

Looking to get into one of these shipping companies as a driver because I hear the pay good. I make ok money now but I also think this would be something more exciting and something I would just enjoy more than my office job.

If you are interested in working for somebody, you need to apply.  Go to the website of the company - there is usually a section "job opportunities" or "careers"

Go to www.unitedpackagesmashers.com, click on forums, and read through the message boards for warehouse workers (most likely where you will start) and drivers before you seriously consider working for UPS.  It is every bit as bad as everyone says, if not worse.  I know, I work there.

the pay IS good, and the benefits for those type of jobs is good too. usually they start you at crappy hours, but you move onto a better shift once they realize that youre a good worker. Youre best bet is to apply, and then GO IN and ask to see a manager...introduce yourself and say that youve applied and youre looking forward to hearing back from them. Then, call about once a week to check on your application. If theyre hiring, they will pick someone who clearly wants the job and is willing to go the extra mile to get it over someone who just applied on the internet and put forth no effort. My brotehr works for UPS and he says he bugged them until they finally hired him at christmastime. the hours SUCKED (3 am to 3 in the afternoon) the overtime pay was crazy, almost more than his check would have been by itself. He stuck with it though, and Now he has a great shift, a route he enjoys and hes in town all the time instead of having to go to the little off cities in the mountains that are like hard to navigate when its rainy and icy. My moms freind used to work for ups and they pay well so you should deffinetly go with ups.
