What's the best way to bind a scrapbook?

Hi, i'm making a scrapbook for a friends birthday, i was wondering in your opinions, what is the best way to bind this. The contents are a mix of card and paper, i've ruled out staples. Obviously i want it to hold, but to also look nice. Thanks in advance.

You can try punching holes and and lacing ribbon through it.

use twine, and ribbons, maybe lace?

Have you ever heard of the "Big Bite Crop-A-Dile", it's like a hole puncher, but it punch through paper, leather, fabric, plastic, thin tin, and chipboard. It's also used to set eyelets, which is what I think you should use to bind you friends' scrapbook. It will hold all your pages in place, and if you want to you could put ribbons through the holds.

I would punch holes in all the pages (just use notebook paper as a guide), then use loose-leaf binder rings (can be bought at Walmart, possibly in the crafts section) to bind it together.   To make it pretty, you can tie short lengths of ribbons to the rings.

You could purchase a bound scrapbook and attach your pages with acid free tape - this is what scrapbookers do.

Create the pages - and tape them with tape that will protect the paper, cards, photos etc.

If you have not been using acid free paper I suggest you get a spray (sold at craft and/or scrapbooking stores) that you can neutralize the acid in the paper - if you are including cards, newspaper clippings, and any other paper - spray these also - I would assume if you are taking the time to do this book for a friend - you want it to last - neutralize paper will yellow and become brittle -
