My hammie recvently died, and since I was so upset I decided that I would only get pets that like for atleast 3 years. My mom says no to practically EVERY SINGLE pet, but she doesn't automatically say no to getting gerbils. Byt she still hasn't said yes, even after I made a huuuge pros and cons list, and the only con is also having a cat. My mom doesn't take kindly to me lecturing and blabbing to her for a very long time, or else she won't listen at all. Whats the best way to convince her that I can get a couple gerbils? P.S I want to get them before school starts.

  1. easy lol make her a deal you tell her that if you dont take care of the pet and its mess that you will have to clean the house and give her a foot massage ever night for the next 2 months and I bet she will go for it lol

and also bring in the grades....tell her you will get good grades through the school year lol

or you could just blackmail her lol got any secrets she doesn't want to get out....jk

  2. show her your responsible and offer to pay for all the gerbils needs

  3. Sorry about your hamster:(  What you want to do is make a report about hamsters. Goal: show your mother that you are responsible. Include reports on: food, bedding, cage, when to feed, what to feed, and more.

A website with that stuff (make sure the total price is low.  I would say the max. to be $250!)

    www.drsfosterandsmith.com

Hope that helped and good luck!

  4. You do realize a gerbil's lifespan is not that different from a hamster's, right?

  5. Before you start you pet purchase campaign, be sure that you really want a pet and are prepared to take full responsibility for it.

Think carefully about the kind of animal your household can accommodate and look after. You might be dying to own a pony, but if you live in the city it is probably not the best idea.

Research as much as you can about the animal of your choice. The more knowledge you have, the easier it is to persuade your parents to put some genuine thought to it.

Before approaching your parents, make a list of all possible objections they may have. Try to come up with reasonable answers to all of their concerns.

Be persistent with you request, but always remain calm and polite. Tantrums and tears will only prove that you are not mature enough to look after a pet.

Consider getting an after-school job that involves looking after animals. You could try dog-walking, helping out at your locale stable, or volunteering at an animal shelter. This will help your parents feel more confident about your ability to care for your proposed pet.

If you have a friend who owns the kind of animal you want, invite her over to talk pet care with your parents.

Start off by thinking small. If your parents are adamant that you can't have that gerbil you are longing for, ask them to consider letting you have a smaller animal such as a goldfish. If you take good care of the small animal over a long period of time, they may reconsider buying you the gerbil  you want. Alternatively, you may discover you and your fishy friend are happy.

I hope this helps and good luck!
