Excluding smoking or grilling. It's gotta be done in an apartment. I have an electric range, oven and slow cooker.

  1. Season it with salt, pepper, seasoned salt. Then put it in the crock pot, pour a beer over it add some sliced onions and maybe even a little water. Cook on low until it is fall apart tender.

You can also do it in the oven, but no matter wich way you do it make sure it cooks low and slow. And don't do it wrapped u in tin foil, and don't do roasts that way either. You need a good roasting an of some kind to keep the juices in.

  2. i would use the crock pot, us some meat tenderizer with water and cook until it gets tender to the way you want it, then i would put the brisket under the broiler with the sauce of your choice for that nice flavor and that grilling look

  3. CHILI BEEF BRISKET

    3-4 lb. beef brisket

1 bottle any size chili sauce

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

    12 oz. beer

Put all ingredients in a crock pot and cook until tender (about 8-9 hours on low).  Remove roast and refrigerate overnight.  Slice meat thinly and serve with reheated sauce.  May be served on the same day, but flavor is best on the second day (and easier to slice) ... Great on buns with cole slaw and potato salad

  4. in the oven or the slow cooker i have done both the slow cooker will cook it to were it falls off the fork and the when it is done you can bq sauce

  5. Treat it like you would a roast.  Wrap it up in tin foil and cook it at a low heat for several hours.

  6. Fry it in hot oil quickly on each side after you put some salt on it, then place it in a large pan with some water and cook on slow (250 degrees) for 4-6 hours.  When it is finished, it will come apart if you try to lift it with a fork.  Place fat side up.  For seasoning, use coriander or ground cumin.  Then, you can eat as is or after draining fat and trimming off other fat, use a good sweet and tangy bb que sauce.

You can freeze cooked meat for up to six months in the freezer in an air tight bag or container.

  7. put a rub seasoning all over it then bake it in your oven at 225 to 250 for 10 hours. You can use a store bought seasoning or make your own. Emerils essence is a suggestion and there are other rubs available also.

  8. in the oven, low heat for a long time !

  9. Low & Slow.  Put on a rack in covered vessel.  Marinate or season with your favorite herbs & spices,  I marinate in coca cola, ginger, garlic & onion powder. When it goes in the oven I add salt pepper & chili powder.  225F for 8-10 hours.  Remove any fat that hasn't cooked off.  Shred or slice & serve with BBQ or horseradish.

  10. How about oven-barbecued?  :)

    Ing:

      *1 fresh beef brisket (3-3 1/2 pound)

      *2/4 cup water

*1/2 cup chopped onion (1 medium)

      *3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

*2 tbsp white wine vinegar or cider vinegar

      *1 tbsp chili powder

*1 tsp beef bouillon granules (or 1 cube)

      *1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

      *2 cloves garlic, minced

*1 bottle barbecue sauce (any flavor)

    Dir:

      1.  Trim fat from meat and place in a 13x9x2-inch pan.  In a small bowl stir together all ingredients but BBQ sauce.  Pour over meat, cover with foil.

      2.  Bake at 325-deg F for about 3 hours, or until tender.  Thinly slice meat across the grain.  Right before serving, heat barbecue sauce in small saucepan over low heat, and pour over meat.

  11. I used a slow cooker recipe that was very easy a long time ago. I'll give you the basics and you can springboard off of it to make it your own way:

    Ingredients:

    Medium size brisket, trimmed

3 lb yellow onions, peeled and coarsely chopped

3 or 4 carrots chopped the same way as the onion

Beef Broth sufficient to just cover the food, about 3 16oz cans, prefer lo salt broth.

    1/4 - 1/2 cup tomato ketchup

Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

    Directions:

Place chopped onions and carrots in slow cooker.

Rub brisket with salt and black pepper and place on top of the onions and carrots

Pour beef stock in along the side so you don't rinse all the seasoning off of the meat.

Add ketchup to the stock and stir gently.

Cook until done--about 3 hours on High or 6 hours on low. Depending on the size and age of your slow cooker, you should keep an eye out for doneness although the times here are pretty close to what you will use.

If you plan to put potatoes in the pot wait until the last 45 cooking minutes and cut pototoes to taste. You may have to add another can of beef broth to cover the potatoes.

Now I got myself hungry for a brisket.

Good luck and report back how it tasted.

  12. i know you said excluding smoking, but, if you have a balcony, you can buy a small bullet smoker for around 50 bucks (75 if you want the electric one). i have used one on an apartment balcony many times. it doesn't take up much space and doesn't give off as much heat as a grill (250 degrees vs. 500-700 on a grill). can't go wrong. and, for my tastes, the only way to cook a brisket is to smoke it. check out "the smoke ring" for a good starting point. just thought i'd throw that in. good luck!

  13. season it all over with what you like... i use a lot of garlic

get the largest skillet you have or can borrow and brown all the sides as best you can in the skillet since you don't have an outdoor grill.

then get one of the disposable pans like you can cook a turkey in and put the brisket in that. cover it completely with Coke (Coca Cola) then cover it really well with some extra strong aluminum foil

then cook it in the oven at about 350 degrees for several hours, depending on the weight of your brisket

check it after 3-4 hours, if you can't pull it apart with a fork, cook it longer

if you cook it long enough in the coke it will be very tender and pull apart with a fork
