What's the best way to cross train for cross-country skiing?

I've just agreed to go on my first skiing holiday, to learn cross country skiing in Norway at Christmas. I want to make the most of my time, keep up and not get injured. What can I do now to make life easier?

  2. Roller Blades, it may seem silly but if you use treking poles you can work all the same muscles you use when you cross-country ski.

    Also Cross-Country running helps.
