What's the best way to deal with a recurring rat problem in my garage and attic?

This is the third time, and this last time they have gotten better at hiding there presence so I think they have been there for months. Last time I used the bromethian pellets which worked well but they died in the walls. I've read that the live traps are the best. I'm trying to save money and am wondering if I can do the whole job (including searching and filling any entry points) on my own.

Or do you think its worth it just to get professionals. They seem to offer little more than the poison and charge a lot of cash for the convenience factor. I am pretty sure I have the Norway Rats. I live in North Central Florida.

Also, I have caught two with snap traps over the last few days, and I bought some high pitch sound devices from Lowes which I will use in the garage and attic after I clear out the initial population. I read not to close off holes until I remove initial population. Any advice (hopefully from experience) is much appreciated.

  1. If not afraid of snakes they would do the job but if not those snap traps are great also the live traps are not good unless the mouse is small otherwise he will carry it off or even sacrifice his leg or other bodypart just to get free and all u will have left is a leg and  a mouse still in ur house without a leg.

  2. DECON     They go outside to die looking for water. Keep the Decon out till they don't eat any more of it, then there wont be any more!
