What's the best way to demolish concrete on which my garage used to stand? Do I need to hire help?

  1. find the corner and chip it away from there using a pic-axe  or just get a large hammer which is heavy and hit it until it cracks and then do that to the rest of it


  2. Trust me on this - hire a backhoe operator with a dump truck. The backhoe can get under the slab, pick it up a foot or so, then drop it so that it will crack into manageable pieces which can then be dropped into the dump truck and disposed of. Depending on how large the slab actually is, you're looking at 2 - 3 hours actual work as opposed to days (and one very sore back) if you attempt this "by hand" plus - you still have to get rid of the concrete.

  3. Electric Kango type hammer, or a large sledge. Keep at it and you will beat it. Hard work.
