What's the best way to expand your vocabulary?

I read a lot, I'm a good writer, but I would like to have more words at my disposal. A word only sticks with me if it's really different. How do I expand my vocabulary?

Please don't answer by just telling me to read. Could you also include a book with really varied word choice or a particular author?

I don't know if this would be helpful to you or not, but it is something I have done for years and I believe it helped me.

I use the dictionary each week, randomly opening the book to some page, running my finger down with my eyes closed and choosing a word by where my finger stops. I then write down the word and its definition and make every attempt to use that word in written and spoken sentences for the week.

There's no one single book.  A regular reading regimen is the best way.
