  1. if you have good insurcence tap you your brakes and if that don't hit them harder until they back off

  2. Put your hazard flashers on and slow down a little.  The tailgater will either back off thinking you might be having to stop to avoid a hazard ahead or will pass you.  Either way, problem solved!

  3. The first rule of Italian race-car driving applies here . . .

What's behind me is not important.

    .

  4. if you have a safe shoulder on the road where you can see quite a way pull off onto it and let them by. Dont pull off on the shoulder if your going up a hill because you dont know whats on the other side. It todays society its just best to pull over and let them by and not enraging them because there are alot of unstable people in this world.

  5. I do the tap the break light thing, and if that doesn't do it and they  get aggitated, I turn off then get back onto the street I was on.  It's a nuscance but sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles.  If you do get hit from behind, it's his fault for the accident.  Ask yourself this, could handle getting another car?  If I see a jag or some other nice sporty car, and it looks as if they have money, h**l yeah I brake hard.  Chances are if they are speed demons, they have more infractions than they want to deal with and will try and pay you a settlement outside of court.  If they hit you and they get mad, the police should be there and it's all on them.  Take care.

  6. Tap the brakes lightly to ask them nicely to back off,   then after a minute let off the speed about 5 mph to encourage them to pass.    Back off 5 more after another minute if they don't get a clue

Jabbing the brakes hard may get you hit by them.  yes their fault,  but you are still in danger of injury and not having use of your car while getting repaired.   Not worth the hassle.

  7. Road rage is a big deal these days, the best thing is to get over and let them by, the probelms they would cause is not worth the pain. Slow down and let them by and keep smiling and don't flip them off. Be the better person and maybe they will become one like you

  8. Move over when it's safe and let him pass.

  9. A new driver shouldn't ask for problems. An experienced one usually handles them better.

If I'm being "tailgated", I simply come off the gas and slowing down encourages them to pass. I don't allow things to escalate. I don't make eye contact, but I keep an eye on this "tailgater" to remain safe on the road.

A new driver should probably pay close attention to what's up ahead and try to get into the right hand driving lane if possible, rather than staying in the passing lane. If you are already in the driving lane (right lane), then they will pass as soon as they can. These "tailgaters" are always in a hurry and have their own agenda or anger or impatience or whatever it is which causes them to irritate the rest of us. It's best not to aggravate these people because they already have "attitude" and things could escalate. As I said, pay attention to your own driving and take measures to remain calm and passive and in control of  your own vehicle until this aggressive "tailgater" passes.........if you wish you could take his/her licence plate number along with time of day, location, vehicle description, number of passengers in the car, description of driver, etc. and make a formal statement to the police. Once the police have a few complaints about the same driver, action will be taken to remedy the situation.

    "THINK AND DRIVE'.........[grin]

  10. let em nothing u can do if they hit you its their prob and they're buying your next new car if they don't have insurance SUE their butts

  11. It is not worthwhile to "tap the brakes", "flip the bird", or other such (mis)behavior; definitely do not switch on the hazard flashers - those are for when your vehicle is stopped and presenting a potential hazard.

Let the person pass as appropriate and get on with life.... no need to get all cranked off about it. Anger spreads much faster than happiness.

Those who tailgate and drive aggressively do get caught at some time in the future, and may already have some tickets/convictions on their record. Let them be the ones who help to balance your state's budget.
