  1. yes use pulleys, but make sure you invert the boat or rodents and other creatures will turn it into their home.

    Use webbing strap (available at home depot) instead of rope.  Even the thinner straps, "3/4" are rated at 1000 lbs tinsile strength.  

    Two lightweight tie-down straps would be ideal.

    Secure them tightly around the canoe, then fasten a rope to them to pass through the pulley.

    Hoist it up and tie the rope off securely to something solid.  Buy a boat cleat at a marine store and s***w it into a stud in the wall.  that'll hold it.


  2. 2 double pulls at each end, and a center pull so both ends lift equally.
