What's the best way to keep white things from discoloring?

well this question is for a playstation 2 controller that i have that is white, but i guess this could apply to other things like ipods, blenders, fabric, etc. would it be more beneficial for something to be put away like in a closet or in drawers, or is there another way of preventing the discoloration from happening?

Keep it in plastic.

It really depends on what the white thing is made of. Some plastics will absorb body oil and moisture from your hands and then discolor. Some will discolor if exposed to light. There are some that just do a good job staying stable and white regardless of light or chemistry. Fabric and laundry is a whole other  matter and the biggest thing there is to wash whites with whites, don't let your clothes get too dirty, and don't overload your machine.
