What's the best way to learn Italian (a quick version to get by)?

I'm going to Italy in October and want to learn some basics so I don't appear disrespectful.

Any ideas other than a class?

  2. Buy the Rosetta Stone CD-ROMs.  You can buy levels 1 and 2 separately or together.  A bit pricey, but worth it.  Check out their website:  www.RosettaStone.com
