  1. cheat .......................................w... doit!!!!!!!

  2. you can play online for free at almost any site. You can also get poker games for PS2 and things like that. They will alot of times have tutorials on the games too, which helps if you are trying to learn. I have learned a few poker games using The World Series of Poker ps2 game.

  3. pokerstars.net. You can play against real people for free and earn fake money. If you go bankrupt, they give you more. Otherwise, grab a couple friends and play for ten bucks. The winner will get like 70 and 2nd place will get their money back. Something like that. Good luck and have fun!

  4. play online for free at any site using play money and reading books

  5. Playing for free is good for a while but you don't know what skill the others at the table have, so when you move up to playing for real you will find people play more carefully.  If you go on dollar4dime.com they have free play and every day there is freeroll.  They are a new site so less people on so easier to win.  Also at the moment they give you 100% sign up bonus so it gets even easier to win.

  6. It is impossible.

Sorry but that is the truth.  In order to really learn the game you need to lose, and the reality of poker is, you will lose alot of money.

However, approaching the game to "minimize your losses" can spread these losses out over time so it won;t hurt as much.

I strongly recommend (as others have) starting to play online, but you have to realize that if you play for free, you won't be getting the real poker experience.  It is a different game when money is on the line.  I would recommend starting to play for free, while you read, read, read.  But when you play for free, don't play to win, play to learn the strategy that your books are telling you to play, and make yourself become disciplined in those tactics.

Once you have those beginning tactics down, put real money online and play very low limit games, again following the strategy.

The only way you will learn this game properly is to be extremely disciplined until you learn the subtleties of the game.  But keep in mind that as you get better and try new things you WILL lose money until you become experienced enough to execute more experienced techniques.

    Good luck!

  7. You can play at free sites online. But the problem with them is most people play like it's play money, i.e. call or make bets they would never make if it was going to cost them something. The best way to learn to play without losing a lot of money is to have a good teacher who will show you the ins and outs of poker and buy books from the experts. Nogt just one or two from one or two authors, but many diverse authors because all players play different and you can learn different things from different players. You'll spend a lot of money on the books, but you'll get a lot from them, so it's not like losing it at the table and never knowing why.

  8. get a book like poker for dummies.  playing online at a free site is not going to teach you anything because there is not repercussion for playing bad.  once you get the jist of the game, find a group to play small tourneys for $10  a  game.

  9. The way I learned, is with freerolls. They are free to play but you can still win money. If you can win a couple of free rolls, with all the people usually in them thats no easy task, you should have a pretty good grasp on the game. And if you lose who cares, you lose nothing but time.

  10. Internet poker.

    www.pokerroom.com

Play in the free money rooms.

  11. Don't listen to people telling you that you can't learn anything from playing for free online. It's a great way to learn the game, and once you get enough chips to play in the highest buy-in play money sit-n-go's, the players are about on par to the low limit real money players. I would also suggest that you go to the library and find some poker books. That will give you a good starting point so you're not just randomly playing with the idiots at the low buy-in play chip tables.

  12. Doyles Room allows you to play free money as well as real money so you dont actually lose money, it also has a great library of poker lessons in order to teach new people about poker, right here:

  13. have someone teach you the proper ways and teach you the different games

  14. Playing on-line for free can teach you the basics of how to bet, and stuff, but 95% of the people play like jackasses for free money.  You can put money on an account and play the smaller games, like .25/.50 blinds.  People play a little better at those rates.

The best way is probably start a small buy-in home game.  You can play for $10-$20, either tournaments or cash games.  It's fun, you can learn how to play, and make a little money at the same time.

I'd also suggest reading some books.  Super System 2, the Harrington on Hold 'em books, and Mike Caro's book on tells are good.

  15. Do not... DO NOT... go to play money tables to "learn".  You won't learn to play the game that way, you'll learn people go all-in with any two cards.

Read as much as possible.  There are tons of good books out there, so start with that.

  16. Go to party poker .com and you can play with play money believe me it is just like the real thing, I have played poker for 50 years and this so much like stakes poker and you will learn and it will make you money when you play with big boys.Good luck.
