What's the best way to make a fitted sheet for a Kindermat?

I need to make my daughter a cover/ fitted sheet for her Kindermat at daycare. What is the easiest way to make one? Should I use elastic on the corners? Or make just a big pillow case to fit completely over it? Or sew triangles on the backs of the corners?

Any ideas??

  1. When I worked in daycare we would do the large pillow cases. Some parents would velcro the end to keep it on. They are easier to clean and makes it easy when you have a lot of mats to put down.

  2. All your ideas are good.

I like the big pillow cover best, you could use buttons to close it.

    or velcro.

  3. you can purchase a super king size pillow case at the store.  if you don't like that, then go with your thought of just making a slip cover to go over the entire matt.  sound simple and easy.  great idea by the way

  4. With a little one, the pillow case style will probably stay on better.

If you just want to make a sheet, cut the fabric about 4 inches larger on each side & stitch elastic all across the bottom & about 12 inches up each side.  Do the same thing accross the top.

If the daycare hasn't specified what they want, I would go with the pillow case style.  Easier for you and will stay on better for her.
