Question:

What's the best way to practice holding my breath underwater when away from the pool?

I don't have a pool at home, so I'm just wondering what other tricks I might be able to use to build up my ability to hold my breath underwater for long stretches at a time. Thanks in advance!

  1. Get a stopwatch and time yourself.  Every day, try to last about a second longer. ;)


  2. when i start out swimming i always do an under water swim the length of the pool so i do breathing exercizes like breathing in through my nose and let all the air out slowly through my mouth like 6 times this really expands your lungs and if u keep practicing this each time you can hold ur breath much longer and u do this out of the water so u could do this at home too

  3. You could always try filling the sink up with water, or bathtub or whatever. Just get a stopwatch and time yourself, and gradually build up your endurance.
